Time and costs

The exact time it takes for your diploma to be recognized may differ per person and per situation. There are legal terms for checking and assessing the documents and processing the application.

Total duration of the recognition

In total, the entire process takes an average of one year from the moment you have submitted your application. The exact time it takes for you to receive your certificate of professional competence depends on various factors:

The preparations

For the application, each applicant must provide various mandatory and desired documents (evidence). On this website you will find an overview (with additional explanation) of the documents to be provided. Make sure you have everything complete before you send the application. This prevents your application from coming to a standstill unnecessarily.

The application

When your application has been fully and correctly completed, and when you have submitted all documents (in the correct manner), you will receive a message from us about the next step within 3 weeks. If information is missing or additional information is required, you will receive a request to provide this information. In the meantime, the processing of your application is temporarily suspended. The total processing of the application may therefore take longer. The decision period for the application is twenty weeks.

Deadlines for the assessment of applications by the committee

A number of fixed terms apply to the committee when assessing the application and receiving your decision.

  • For the veterinarians: assessment of the application within 14 weeks after you have submitted a complete file. You will also receive your intended decision within this period.
  • For paraveterinary veterinary assistant: assessment of application within 14 weeks after you have submitted a complete file. You will also receive your intended decision within this period.
  • For animal physiotherapists: assessment of application within 14 weeks after you have submitted a complete file. You will also receive your intended decision within this period.
  • For embryo transferor/winner: assessment of application within 14 weeks after you have submitted a complete file. You will also receive your intended decision within this period.
